Modifying Your POP3 Email Address in MS Outlook 2000

This tutorial shows you how to modify your Microsoft Outlook 2000 email account to work with your e-mail settings.

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, from the E-mail Accounts menu, select Tools then Accounts.

    Then select your email account and click "properties"

  2. On the General Tab enter a name or your email address for this account: Then enter your Name, Company Name and your Full Email address in the appropriate fields.

  3. Select the Servers Tab and enter your POP3 Domain in the Incoming Mail (POP3) field and the SMTP Domain in the Outgoing (SMTP) field. Your account name is your email address. Enter your password in the Password field (check remember password)

    NOTE: "smtp.yourdomain.com" is an example of the outgoing SMTP relay server address. The setting for your your specific domain will be included in your email list spreadsheet. In most cases the setting will be smtp + your domain. Example: for www.uxbinternet.com the setting would be smtp.uxbinternet.com and pop3.uxbinternet.com

  4. Select the advanced tab. Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number from 25 to 1625 and verify that Incoming Mail Port Number is 110.

    NOTE: If you wish to use the webmail client with your outlook client then you my need to leave messages on the server for viewing remotely. Check "leave copies of messages on the server" then check both "remove from server after" and "Remove from server when deleted from deleted items". You can set the length of time messages will be left on the server up to 90 days.

  5. Click the apply button and then close the dialog box.
